WORDS OF THE LEGENDARY GENERAL GEORGE PATTON

At the end of the fighting in Europe in 1945, the West already sensed that the destruction of the Reich would not bring peace, but rather buy some time before having to face the problem of the Soviet Union. Churchill said that it was "better to shake hands as far east as possible". But there were also those who stated outright: Russia is evil.

"The difficulty in understanding Russians lies in the fact that we do not realise that they belong not to Europe but to Asia, and therefore they think differently. We are unable to understand Russians, just as we cannot understand the Chinese or the Japanese, and, having had extensive experience of communicating with them, I must say that I have no particular desire to understand them, except to understand how much lead and iron it would take to destroy them. In addition to other Asian traits of their character, Russians do not respect human life ”they are sons of bitches, barbarians and chronic alcoholics...", from a letter to his wife Beatrice Ayer Patton.

"I am saddened by what I saw in Berlin. We have destroyed what could have been a good race and are going to replace them with Mongolian savages. And all of Europe will become communist. They say that in the first week after the fall of Berlin, all the women who fled were shot, and those who did not flee were raped. I could have taken Berlin (previously held by the Soviets) if I had been allowed to."

Russia knows what it wants: world domination. And it is making its plans accordingly. We, on the other hand, and to a lesser extent England and France, do not know what we want. As a result, we get less than nothing. If we need to fight them, we need to do it now. From today, we will be weaker, and they will be stronger. Let's not resort to polishing our boots and bayonets; let's show the Russians a picture of strength and power. This is the only language they understand and respect. If we don't do this, I would say that we defeated the Germans and disarmed them, but we lost the war.

We promised Europeans freedom. It would be worse than dishonest not to see that they have it. This may mean war with the Russians, but so what? They (the USSR) have no air force, and their supplies of petrol and ammunition are running out. I saw their pitiful supply convoys, consisting mainly of carts pulled by battered old horses and oxen. I will say this: the 3rd Army alone, with very few losses, could wipe out what remains of the Russians in six weeks. Write down these words. Never forget them. Someday we will have to fight them, but then it will take six years and cost us six million lives.
