SYNOPSIS - 1

On June 25, 2018 at approximately 1205 hours, [_BLANK_] ) contacted the Port Moody Police Department (PMPD) from [_BLANK_] concerned for the well-being of Daniel BERLADYN (BERLADYN). [_BLANK_] stated that BERLADYN wrote, 'Call the RCMP and tell them my suicide is imminent' on Facebook. BERLADYN had extensive Facebook activity from June 25, 2018 at 0611 UTC until 1914 UTC from IP address 173.180.45.53. This IP address mapped to Coquitlam Centre near the City Hall. Still under investigation to confirm well-being of BERLADYN.

I will phone the people looking for you and place all these extra burdens upon your person that you really do not need, but I feel better about myself because I did something and I bear absolutely no responsibility for my actions. In fact, I am now legally absolved of any wrong dong. I called the police. You literally have no friends in the shoes that I was in. Everyone does exactly the opposite of what you actually need. I think I knew it at the time, I regretted contacting her.

OCCURRENCE REPORT - 1

On June 25, 2018 at approximately 1205 hours, [_BLANK_] )contacted the Port Moody Police Department (PMPD) from Ontario concerned for the well-being of Daniel BERLADYN (BERLADYN).

INITIAL COMPLAINT

[_BLANK_] has only met BERLADYN online through Facebook, a connection that started when both exchanged messages on conservative commentator "BradTrost"'s Facebook page. BERLADYN disclosed details of his life, including his experiences with the PMPD, through Facebook and his online blog.

[_BLANK_] explained that BERLADYN mentioned suicide since met him on Facebook three months prior including comments about murdering himself and being murdered. BERLADYN has a long history of mental health concerns, documented by PMPD Mental Health Officer Cst OHASHI.

[_BLANK_] said that BERLADYN was on Facebook asking for money and complaining about fatigue and homelessness. [_BLANK_] stated that BERLADYN wrote: 'Call the RCMP and tell them my suicide is imminent' on Facebook. then realized he deleted all comments and contacted the PMPD. [_BLANK_] could not confirm the date or time the threat was posted, only [_BLANK_] that read it today.

OPEN SOURCE SEARCHES

Cst BUHRIG searched Facebook under username "DAN.BERLADYN" and did not note any recent posts of interest.

Cst BUHRIG searched BERLADYN's online blog at "dan.berladyn.online" and noted two lengthy blog posts made today on June 25, 2018. In these posts, BERLADYN does not mention suicide, but rather his frustrations with being homeless, prior PMPD attempts on June 24, 2018 to check BERLADYN's well-being (File 18-3516 refers), and a post regarding the Queen's birthday.

Of note, BERLADYN mentions unfriending a female who was rather active on his Facebook account, as "she just could not respect my wishes to stop advising and offering opinions that were no good." Cst BUHRIG suspects that this may be [_BLANK_].

LAST KNOWN ADDRESS

In PRIME, BERLADYN is last listed as being "NFA" in Maple Ridge, BC

At approximately 1225 hours, Cst BUHRIG contacted Crown Counsel Peter NG(NG) who advised BERLADYN did not provide an address to the courts on June22, 2018. NG indicated that BERLADYN told him that he was living at the Salvation Army Shelter in Maple Ridge, BC.

ATTEMPTS TO PING

Cst BUHRIG requested Dispatch ECOMM ping phone numbers associated to BERLADYN. The only phone number still registered to BERLADYN was [_BLANK_], but this phone registered with "Freedom Mobile" was not in service.

CONTACT WITH

At approximately 1245 hours, Cst BUHRIG contacted by phone. [_BLANK_] stated that has not heard from BERLADYN recently and did not see any Facebook posts. [_BLANK_] indicated that had noticed a new post by BERLADYN

FOOT PATROLS

Csts BUHRIG and MANDERSCHEID conducted foot patrols in the Coquitlam area. Members checked City hall, the local coffee shops, recreation centre and library. BERLADYN was not located.

UPDATE FROM COMPLAINANT

At approximately 1600 hours, Cst BUHRIG contacted who did not have any further communication with BERLADYN. advised to contact PMPD if BERLADYN contacts or makes additional suicidal comments.

ATTEMPT TO CONTACT BERLADYN

At approximately 1740 hours, Cst BUHRIG sent an e-mail message to "dberladyn@gmail.com" requesting BERLADYN contact the PMPD to confirm his well-being.

ADDED TO CPIC

BERLADYN added to CPIC as a compassion to locate with a request to confirm his well-being, as he made suicidal comments on Facebook.

If you see this email, can you please call the Port Moody Police Department at 604-461-3456 or call the police Department / RCMP Detachment in whatever City you are in.

You are not wanted by the police and you are not in any trouble. As in other cases, we have a duty to ensure you are safe and offer assistance if we are able.
