Amethyst

Amethyst is a popular and well-known violet to purple variety of the mineral quartz that is frequently used in jewelry and for spiritual practices. Its name comes from the Ancient Greek word amethystos, meaning "not intoxicated," as ancient Greeks and Romans believed the stone could prevent drunkenness.
