They discredit and devalue you

"They discredit and devalue you"
"They do not want not you to succeed" / "They will not let you succeed".

When she said this to me sometime between 2008 and 2012, I thought she was talking about my siblings. More than a decade later I feel as if she was talking about greater society. The world in general doesn't want to me succeed.

And if we are talking about "succession" of the parental estate, government entities certainly do not seem want to see that take place as would be natural and culturally appropriate under every major culture on Earth.
