It should be illegal not to take cash payments.

I know Prime Minister Stephen Harper offered a reward for someone who could replace cash with an electronic exchange medium.  I think that is wrong.  I'd rather see RFID technology placed into bills than to see bills disappear.  Both ideas are less than ideal.  In any event, not taking cash as a means of payment when the means is available should be illegal.

My two cases in point:

• Bell Mobility and their Franchises.

They take cash to purchase items when signing an agreement, but they will not take cash to pay a Bell Mobility bill.

• The other is Hotel Accommodations.

I can't afford it, but after tonight's phone call, I thought perhaps a shower, a bed, and some relaxing peace might be in order.  I could review this website for errors.  I wasn't getting a room, not without a Credit Card,  doesn't matter how many hundred dollar bills I offer for security.  It just was not happening.

It seems to me that this should be illegal.  Why tender business based on class, on credit rating, or perhaps even a religious belief?  Also, why give someone the ability to cut off your ability to live via a remote button?  Cash appears to be the monetary equivalent of Free Speech.  It's necessary.

I watched a woman plead with the hospital staff for more money to be released from her bank account after her bank account was frozen.  The hospital would only agree to ask the bank to release just enough to cover her rent to the penny.  She was hysterical, and she was angry over it.  I could understand how she could become 'broken' over it.

Who knows what that woman's actual needs are but herself?  There's no way anyone spends enough time to understand someone else's intricate and dynamic problems.  Furthermore, this is the type if situation which can quickly compound.  A meagre ten dollars could save someone thousands caused by the damage that that lack of ten dollars caused.

I don't know the details of this situation; I just know the glimpse I observed while trying to keep myself in peace.  I know the emotional pain as she pleaded.  I do see what I go through when the cash is no longer there in my pocket.  It can set me back several days in which I never truly recover from as the effects are exponential.

Anyways, this is just a ramble.
